Knowing God

Knowing God starts with understanding His purpose:

God loves you and created you to have a right relationship with Him and life eternal.

The Bible says…

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5:1 (NIV)

Jesus said…  I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV)

Many people in our world today aren’t experiencing peace with God and they’re not enjoying the abundant life that He intends for us to have because they are separated from Him by sin.

We are separated from God by our willful disobedience and our desire to go our own way.

Because we are given a free will we don’t automatically love and obey Him.  With our freedom we choose to disobey God and go our own ways and are separated from God.  The Bible says…

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (NIV)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

People have tried a lot of different ways to reach God without success.

God’s Word says…

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2

The Bible teaches that there is only one way to a right relationship with God.

Jesus Christ paid sin’s penalty for all of mankind.  He died on the cross, was buried and rose from the grave showing victory and power over death.

The Bible says…

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 2:5

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. 1 Peter 3:18

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

God has provided us with the Way, but we must each make our own choice.

The only way to a right relationship with God is to trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

The Bible says…

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12

That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

A right relationship and peace with God begins by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?

Here is how you can receive Christ

1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 (NIV)

2.  Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” Matthew 4:17 (NIV

3.  Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

1 Corinthians 15:3-6 (NIV)

4.  Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

How to Pray

Dear Jesus I admit that I am a sinner, that I’ve done some things that are wrong.  Please forgive me.  I believe that you died for my sins, you were buried and rose from the dead showing power and victory over death.  I want to turn from my sins.  Come into my heart and life and be my Lord and Savior.  Help me to trust you and follow you I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God’s Assurance: His Word
If you sincerely prayed this prayer, The Bible says…

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:11-13 (NIV)

Salvation is God’s free gift to those who believe.  It’s a gift that causes life change as we realize what we’ve been given and the Father’s great love for us.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8,9.
